Christmas Traditions

Unreal. That's the word that comes to mind when reflecting back on 2024, but especially the Christmas season in Florida.  I received an unexpected and beautiful Christmas letter from my daughter across the country. The words that struck me the most were about her family tradition memories growing up.  Some of the delicious cookies we used to make included a German recipe passed down from my Mom. Two cookies pressed together, held together by a thin layer of cherry jam and topped off with homemade frosting. It was a torturous process that I always dreaded, but because the end result was too delicious, I endured the work. But in all honesty, the memories it brought back of my childhood in Germany and my childhood home were equally important. Life on the road is different

A lot of things are going thru my mind tonight. Most of the time we stay at camp grounds or State parks. Tonight we happen to be en 'route to our next destination and are staying the night at a halfway point.  I am sitting here in a Walmart parking lot  looking out my livingroom window, not far from Lake Tahoe in Nevada on this beautiful sunny September afternoon.  I am reflecting back on the last 8 weeks of my new gypsy life. The life that my husband and I chose very willingly. Is it what I thought it would be? Is it what I was hoping it would be? It's what you make of it. I am a firm believer that we are not the victim of our circumstances. We make choices and if we don't like them, then we need to adjust them. All Things New

Got change? If you always do what you've always done you will always get what you've always gotten. This is true to every aspect in life. While Joe is pretty adaptable when it comes to any kind of weather,  especially the cold, I often told myself that my body just wasn't made for the cold. Period. For me, after having lived in Colorado Springs,CO for 23 years, I was tired of cold winters and looking/dressing like an eskimo in order to stay warm during cold winter days. The pet family: As our relationship progressed and we eventually got married three years later on April 22nd 2017, we started talking about options of where we could live one day outside of Colorado, sometime in the future.
