The art of finding entertainment

Image
It's obvious that over time there comes a day here or there when you are stuck in your RV because of bad weather. As I am writing this blog we are staying overnight in Nomansville,  USA. Well okay this sleepy town goes by the name of Tucumcari,  New Mexico. Been there? At some point, a long time ago this place looks like it had boomed, being conveniently located along famous Route 66. But after driving around town (we always enjoy getting to know new towns, so we take a new town safari) it becomes clear that those days have long passed. What were once hip new facilities, such as RV parks, motels and restaurants,  are now closed down properties.  So, it's a cold late October day here in Tucumcari and because the weather is anything but good for travelling, we are staying an extra night, unfortunately.  It has taken me a bit to figure out how to entertain myself while living in a whopping 280 sf! You can't just pack up ALL your entertainme

Bryce Canyon, Utah

Our day in Bryce Canyon: Click on the link below for the slide show: https://youtu.be/uMQtwbSHGZ0 We visited this amazing park in October. It's a good idea to bring good hiking or tennis shoes if you are planning on hitting some of the trails. There are plenty of them for everyone.  Before you get to the main entrance you can park your vehicle for free and get onto the park shuttle,  which is also free. It's a hop on hop off concept.  We always appreciate such services that minimize the pollution and wear and tear on the road system in the parks.  We encourage you take advantage of this great service when visiting any national park! Remember to bring some water to keep hydrated and sunscreen!

Upper Antelope Canyon, Arizona & Lake Powell

Image
Click on this link to view a slideshow of this canyon: https://youtu.be/UKMHh55mg3s This absolutely breathtaking canyon was on our to-do list after a friend first brought it to our attention about a year ago. Upper and lower Antelope Canyon tours sell out fast. You must book a tour in order to see either canyon. They are on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation. We found several sites right away when we Googled Antelope Canyon and made our reservations online. This was very simple to do. After we booked and paid online we received an email confirmation instantly with further tour information.  It's a very dusty terrain. Hiking or tennis shoes are most practical as well as clothes that you don't mind getting a bit sandy.

To see the photos of this beautiful canyon click on the link below: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10220036161870431&id=1115421580&sfnsn=mo&s=1115421580&w=n It's location is on the outskirts of Las Vegas and I can highly recommend a visit. Bring some walking shoes as you want to get out of your car at the many stopping points to take in the amazing scenery this large park has to offer. There are many hiking trails as well. The fee to get in is $ 15 per vehicle.

Stillwater Wildlife Refuge, Fallon - Nevada

Image
If you happen to travel through Fallon Nevada, stop at Stillwater Wildlife Refuge and take a drive. There are several stopping points with interesting facts about the area. We saw 2 coyotes and birds. We were there in late September and the weather was great.  Cool at night though.
