Embracing Florida

It's the middle of July. 9 months ago we arrived in Florida.  Time flies when you're having fun, right!?

One that does not live a full time RV life could assume that we're just kicking back every day, sipping on our margaritas.  One couldn't be farther from reality!  Reality check: Since our move to our current location at Fort Desoto campground we spend 3 half days working in order to receive a free stay at said location.  We switch duties weekly: One week we clean camp sites.

Where we get to cruise around in a non-shock absorbent golf cart and prep sites for the new campers.  On other weeks we get to clean the campgrounds bath houses.  This is where one finds out really fast that we mostly live in a culture where people think it's okay to leave their mess behind for other people to clean. I'll spare you the details of what that could look like but you're welcome to let your imagination go wild at this point and even then, you probably won't come close to what people are capable of doing in bathrooms! Often we are so wiped out after such shift that we end up taking a nap!

In our lifes there are never a dull moments.  My beach cruiser has been working full time since leaving Colorado. I am on my 2nd set of tires.  I continue to exercise the puppies (who are now 2 years old) daily. My personal assistant side gig adds some nice extra $$ to our pocketbook while satisfying my need to work and help make someone else's life a bit easier.  Ulrike's Shop

has grown and takes up many hours of what could be free time. But I love working on growing my business because my entrepreneurial spirit will not settle for less.

Joe has officially started his job hunt. Spending many hours tweaking and sending out his resume'. He still does handyman jobs as well.

We live in a sandy environment,  which means the inside of our mini home requires constant cleaning.  Often it seems like that's all we do, clean. Living tiny does NOT mean we skip daily household upkeep.

We've invested in a tandem kayak! Since we live a whopping 10 feet from the edge of the water it's pretty much mandatory to venture out and spend a good amount of time on and in the beautiful warm water.

We often see dolphins, occasionally manatee but daily jumping fish and an abundance of birds of all sizes.  Not to forget raccoons, that enjoy their nightly buffet at the campground trashcans.

We're working on having a social life. Being new in a town means starting over making friends and integrating in the local scene.  Learning where to go for dancing,  music, nightlife, food. All that takes lots of research. We rely on our navigation system to get us to new places. Life as we knew it was left behind in Colorado in what seems now like a long time ago.

We've evolved.  We aren't the same people we were when we started our adventure.  We've learned that the unknown can be a good thing. Stepping out of our comfort zone is a challenge worth taking.  Meeting new people,  learning every day what it means to live in a different state, in a different climate means evolving.

We're embracing it all. ✨ There's nothing more rewarding than living in the presence!
