Los Angeles - the rich and the poor

Image
In all these months of traveling and experiencing some big cities, many small towns and endless dots on the map, did we ever come across such diversity as we did in 'THE CITY OF ANGELS". Ferraries and BMW's drive next to old beaters. A city that attracts millions of tourists, a city that everyone knows for its glamour and stars, no matter where in the world you are. How can there be so much homelessness? After seeing the first tent, I started questioning what I saw.   Then more and more make-shift shelters and tents popped up:  On sidewalks,  in medians,  on overpasses,  on the sides of 6-lane highways and in parks. We couldn't drive a block without seeing them. These clusters of tents had been there for a while, too. I started googling 'homelessness in LA" out of curiosity and sadness for these people. I like statistics to help me understand . Here is what Dr. Google presented to me ...: Acc

Old Bisbee & Lowell, Arizona

Image
Oh boy, did I love these 2 towns.  History galore!  Both are so fantastic,  I didn't want to leave! Especially if YOU enjoy photography as much as I do, you will be excited to visit these places in southern Arizona.  I promise. Slideshow of both towns: https://youtu.be/kYQ1q-sv15w Tip :  Weekends are busy in Old Bisbee and therefor parking is difficult. We were in our F350 and it was almost impossible to find a spot, let alone find one that would be big enough for our large truck.  But no matter what size your vehicle is, parking is hard. My advise :   Visit during the week!

New Mexico - our 2 months stay

Image
The Organ mountains have been our view for the past 2 months. As I am writing this,  we have exactly one day left before it's time to leave Las Cruces behind. We'll be off to new adventures.  We came to Las Cruces to property sit. A 2 months arrangement we happen to find on "The caretaker Gazette". I'd be lying if I said that this city was love at first sight.  Our best friend "Google " wasn't coming up with much on the most important search word in the Kazimer tiny home: "places to dance in Las Cruces"!  It produced a sad result of ONE country bar and nothing for latin clubs. I kept changing around my search words in hopes that it was my personal error. Sometimes being right is great. In this case I was hoping to be wrong! I wasn't. So we gave Whiskey Dicks a try. A nice big, clean country bar/dance hall with a huge dancefloor. We became a regular quick.  Then I finally found another venue called "Little T

White Sands Ntl. Park, New Mexico

Image
We visited this beautiful  park, located 45 miles away from Las Cruces, New Mexico on a beautiful sunny January day. The gypsum dunes make for a nice walk, since they are firmer than regular sand dunes.  Dogs are allowed on leashes and let me tell you, our dogs loved the sand hike! For more information on this great park visit www.nps.gov/whsa Check out our pictures from our visit to White Sands by clicking on this link: https://youtu.be/Eo65p65YRk4

Bryce Canyon, Utah

Image
Our day in Bryce Canyon: Click on the link below for the slide show: https://youtu.be/uMQtwbSHGZ0 We visited this amazing park in October. It's a good idea to bring good hiking or tennis shoes if you are planning on hitting some of the trails. There are plenty of them for everyone.  Before you get to the main entrance you can park your vehicle for free and get onto the park shuttle,  which is also free. It's a hop on hop off concept.  We always appreciate such services that minimize the pollution and wear and tear on the road system in the parks.  We encourage you take advantage of this great service when visiting any national park! Remember to bring some water to keep hydrated and sunscreen!

Upper Antelope Canyon, Arizona & Lake Powell

Image
Click on this link to view a slideshow of this canyon: https://youtu.be/UKMHh55mg3s This absolutely breathtaking canyon was on our to-do list after a friend first brought it to our attention about a year ago. Upper and lower Antelope Canyon tours sell out fast. You must book a tour in order to see either canyon. They are on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation. We found several sites right away when we Googled Antelope Canyon and made our reservations online. This was very simple to do. After we booked and paid online we received an email confirmation instantly with further tour information.  It's a very dusty terrain. Hiking or tennis shoes are most practical as well as clothes that you don't mind getting a bit sandy.

To see the photos of this beautiful canyon click on the link below: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10220036161870431&id=1115421580&sfnsn=mo&s=1115421580&w=n It's location is on the outskirts of Las Vegas and I can highly recommend a visit. Bring some walking shoes as you want to get out of your car at the many stopping points to take in the amazing scenery this large park has to offer. There are many hiking trails as well. The fee to get in is $ 15 per vehicle.

Stillwater Wildlife Refuge, Fallon - Nevada

Image
If you happen to travel through Fallon Nevada, stop at Stillwater Wildlife Refuge and take a drive. There are several stopping points with interesting facts about the area. We saw 2 coyotes and birds. We were there in late September and the weather was great.  Cool at night though.
